Ear Candy!

For my birthday I got some lovely earrings. I really needed some new ones, as all of mine seemed to either be broken or missing their other half. I stopped wearing dangly earrings when I cut my hair a few years ago, but now that it's long again I've been missing all the long earrings that I used to wear. I also have a second pair of piercings above the regular ones and the earrings I was using in them were too big and kept getting sore!

My sister bought me two pairs of delicate silver studs from Oliver Bonas. They are both so cute: bunnies and birds! And a perfect, tiny size for my second piercings.

My mum and dad bought me a beautiful pair of earrings too. They are so colourful and I think I'll be wearing them all winter to brighten up my outfits.

My friend Rebecca (who has now officially moved to Edinburgh - yay!) bought me three pretty pairs too. My favourites are these leopard print ones.

A girl can never have too many earrings, and I'm so happy to finally have some new ones to wear!

Evening Wanderings

Last night me and my boyfriend went for a wander before dinner. The weather was perfect for it: that lovely autumnal coldness with a chill in the air and a brisk wind. I wore my favourite new cardigan, part of my birthday present from my mum (thanks mum!), which is all warm and cosy. I wanted to take some photos at the playground near our house because I think it would make for some good ones, but there are always children there! Surely they should be in bed in the evening?! We managed to get a couple taken, but then I got too embarrassed to take any more!

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

 

I hope you're all having a lovely week so far. After feeling a bit down a couple of weeks ago, I'm in much better spirits now: no more 7 a.m. finishes at work for me or my boyfriend (yay!), my friend Rebecca is moving over on Thursday and my sister is coming to visit next week!

 

And I had Christmas for a week! My wonderful boyfriend knows how much I love Christmas and how sad I was that we didn't get to spend last Christmas together, so he decided to recreate Christmas for me in our bedroom for my birthday last Thursday! After running me a bath, he quickly decorated the room (complete with a mini tree, reindeer, snowmen, tinsel and christmas lights), and I walked back in to a magical Christmassy room, with carols playing! The decorations came down today, but it was a lovely, cosy week in our room. It really was the perfect present.

The only downside was that it took us quite a while to get the Christmas carols out of our heads... One or other of us kept bursting into song! Just so you don't feel left out, I'll leave you with this: "Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful, and since we've no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow..."

 

Playing Dress Up Part 2

The photos in the last post and this post were taken in my (shared with another couple: that's why it's not decorated!) sitting room when Rebecca was over for an interview last week. She bought her penguin family with her to leave at my house because she is moving over to Edinburgh this week (yay!), and I decided to pose with them... while she posed with a random drum. As you do. I love the velvety dress that I am wearing, but it is rather tricky to walk in: I had to take teeny tiny footsteps!

Taking these photos was quite amusing... there were lots of people outside at the crossroads which is right beside my house, and some of them definitely noticed us posing... And clambering in and out of the window while keeping our modesty intact was also challenging!

Syrup And Waffles And Cream, Oh My!

 

Toasted waffles drizzled (ok, more like poured over) with Golden Syrup and topped with a teaspoon of clotted cream... What could be better? It's hot and cold and melty and sweet and delicious, and oh so easy to make. And it can definitely be eaten for breakfast or dessert. Or a late night snack.

It's Brunch Time!

My friend Rebecca came over from Belfast yesterday for an interview and stayed the night, and this morning she treated me to an early birthday brunch at Henri in Stockbridge. It was delicious: I had a decaf cappuccino (which had real chocolate flakes sprinkled on top - yum!) and a brie and ham baguette, and Rebecca had a latté and a smoked salmon and cream cheese baguette. And we got brownies to go, of course!
