A Spring Dress

A pretty black and white flower print is perfect for these changeable spring days full of sunshine and heavy April showers. Our first attempt to go to the park was halted by a sudden burst of rain, but the sun came out in time for us to take these photos. The park is beautiful at the moment, full of flowers just starting to bloom and so much wildlife, but most of the trees are still bare.

"Pink Zebra Scarf!"

I was so excited to find this pink zebra scarf. What could be sweeter than pink zebras?! And I got it for free, which is always a bonus.

These black shorts are one of the few items of clothing I have purchased during my first year in Edinburgh: I got them in the January sales for less than five pounds, but they were the last pair and much too big around the waist. A bit of sewing fixed them up though and I wear them to work quite a bit: they're so comfy and versatile. I wish I could get them in a few different colours.

I'm really looking forward to the Scottish Bloggers Valentine's Party this Saturday: for one thing, it'll be my first Saturday night off in, well, almost a year! I've been trying to decide what to wear, but I still can't make up my mind.

I'm off to sleep now: I decided to get these up before I go to sleep after work. It was lovely walking home this morning with my boyfriend though: the birds were all singing and we had our own little dawn chorus. Tomorrow we've got a welcome day off which we will be spending with a group of our friends. Happy Wednesday!

Daylight

Not used to the daylight...

The light may have been fading, but we finally made it out into the daylight on Thursday for the first time this year! I breathed a huge sigh of relief on Wednesday night/Thursday morning when my last eleven hour shift was over. No more finishing at 7 a.m.! And no more neglecting my blog either! How I have missed it. I've even got a new blog design in the works.

I'm wearing my dads old jumper which I bought back to Edinburgh from Ireland when I was at home over Christmas. My boyfriend reckons it makes me look like a hipster but I disagree!

Off to see The Hobbit tonight. I loved the book when I was young, so I hope the film won't disappoint!

Sunset

It's been so long since I've done an outfit post: I'm sorry! I haven't had any new, exciting clothes and I've been working more over the last few weeks, so I guess that's my excuse!

It's getting dark quite early now that the clocks have changed but we decided to take advantage of the sunset this evening and take some photos in the park. I'm wearing the new top that my lovely sister sent me last week, and surprisingly I wasn't too cold. Last night we went to see the fireworks from the top of Calton Hill and it was freezing: you can see me all wrapped up in the last photo!

Autumn Leaves

It's really starting to feel like autumn is here. Not that we had much of a summer, but I still can't quite believe that it's October already. This month we have some lovely things to look forward to: a trip down to the south coast to visit my family, our first halloween together (we want to carve a big pumpkin and make caramel apples, among other things) and an anniversary to celebrate. And it's nice having all my favourite programmes starting up again, and trying my very first pumpkin spice latté (utterly delicious of course). Hope you are all enjoying these first few days of October!

Evening Wanderings

All it takes is one quick push... Cardigan from New Look, top from Topshop, boots from Schuh, earrings from Accessorize

Last night me and my boyfriend went for a wander before dinner. The weather was perfect for it: that lovely autumnal coldness with a chill in the air and a brisk wind. I wore my favourite new cardigan, part of my birthday present from my mum (thanks mum!), which is all warm and cosy. I wanted to take some photos at the playground near our house because I think it would make for some good ones, but there are always children there! Surely they should be in bed in the evening?! We managed to get a couple taken, but then I got too embarrassed to take any more!

Day In The Park (2)

I love this dress. Passed down from my sister, it is so comfortable and a nice length for running around all day in the sun. I also love how beautiful the design is if you look closely. I wore it on Thursday, when we enjoyed the sun at Inverleith Park for a few hours. We read, we played frisbee, we ate blueberries...it was a happy, sundrenched afternoon. We left with slightly red skin, bits of grass in our hair and the bottoms of our feet brown from running around barefoot on the grass.
Sunglasses from New Look
Dress from United Colours of Benetton, bag from Warehouse, shoes from Topshop, and a can of Cherryade!
Blueberries...yum
Ahh...that's better!

Here Comes The Sun

It was a lovely day in Edinburgh today, sunny and warm, so I decided to put on a sundress covered with butterflies and go for a walk in the park. The only problem was the wind, which kept trying to lift up my skirt!

Silver and moonstone ring, gift from a friend
Opal earrings, gift from my mum
It was pretty windy today!
